I was in NYC this past week to receive the ASCAP Foundation's Michelle and Dean Kay Award for an outstanding composer from the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop with Richard Bellis this past summer. I was thrilled to be selected among so many talented composers. Dean Kay is such a warm, and generous person. When we met during the reception, he told me the story of when he wrote "That's Life" and Frank Sinatra propelled to amazing heights, opening so many doors for Dean. The evening was a star-studded event. Stephen Schwartz (composer for WICKED, PIPPIN, GODSPELL), Maria Schneider, and Morten Lauridsen were all there including many talented and emerging singers, songwriters, and composers. A truly memorable evening for all! Dean Kay, Nicolas Repetto, and ASCAP President Paul Williams, December 14, 2016, New York City, Jazz at Lincoln CenterASCAP Foundation Michelle and Dean Kay Award
