PERFORMANCE NOTES

Baile de las Mariposas (Dance of the Butterflies)

"Baile de las Mariposas" was inspired by a kaleidoscope of butterflies flying around and landing to sip some nectar from the many flora at Iguazú National Park in Argentina. Their delicate, aerial acrobatics felt like a dance to me, so this dance was born out of observing these beautiful aerial dances.

Commissioned and premiered by the Sequoia Symphony Orchestra
Bruce Kiesling, music director
