Dark Suspicion (2012) for String Orchestra

Today I put the finishing touches on my collaboration piece, Dark Suspicion (2012) for String Orchestra.  It will be premiered by the  Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS) and South Florida Youth Symphony (SFYS).  I currently conduct the SFYS middle division string orchestra and I'm lucky to take part in enriching these young musicians' lives with music of the masters and occasionally, I get to sneak in one of my works - it's nice way to challenge young musicians with a living composer writing for them.  Hey, not all of us are dead guys.  :)Dark Suspicion is a cinematic, programmatic piece influenced by Bernard Herrmann's music from Psycho, Vertigo, and other great cinematic masterpieces by the master composer.  It is my tribute to him and by writing this piece, my hope is that these youth symphonies will continue to collaborate and perform in joint-concerts for many years to come. The world premiere of Dark Suspicion will take place on March 18th at the Littman Theater in North Miami Beach.  For ticket information, please visit www.sfys.net or www.gmys.org for more infomation.[retweet] [facebook]
