GMYS/SFYS Collab Rehearsal of Dark Suspicion a Success!
This afternoon both youth orchestras met at Miami-Dade Kendall Campus for a wonderful two-hour rehearsal. Students were energized and receptive. This was also the first time both groups rehearsed together, so it was the directors' jobs to unify our groups.I rehearsed Dark Suspicion first. These students had energy and could play, so listening to Dark Suspicion being played live was very invigorating. As I conducted the string orchestra, I noticed how the students would sway back and forth - getting emotionally involved with the music. As a composer (and music teacher), seeing string students taking personal responsibility for their music-making made the rehearsal even more special.Special thanks for Dr. Melissa Lesniak for allowing us to rehearse at Miami-Dade Kendall Campus. Remember, our collab concert will be Sunday, March 18th at the Littman Theater in North Miami Beach. Tickets will be $10.For more info, visit www.gmys.org or www.sfys.net. See you on March 18th!
